The Project

Mazingira Bora Ikolomani is a youth led project aimed at addressing the effects of gold-mining in the Ikolomani sub-county , Kenya, looking at the impact on the environment and the rights youth artisanal miners working in the mining field.

The project works with those in need to understand the effects that crude mining process has on the environment and their health. By equipping the youth and women artisanal miners with knowledge on mining laws and regulations, Mazingira provides support for developing mining contracts and agreements, to task the middlemen in filling up the tunnels that cause accidents and reduce cutting down of trees during mining and on tasking the government to guarantee the people their safety and having regulations that respond to environmental injustices.
